Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I wrote a blog but that’s mainly due to our exceptionally busy last 3 months. I’m pleased to say that the “switch” for self storage has well and truly been turned back on. I have spoken and met with many operators who are now looking forward to positive growth and prosperity over the coming year.
It seems that this can be attributed to a number of factors. Australia, for example, has been relatively shielded from the full effects of the GFC and, as a result, an industry such as ours it doesn’t take long to get back on track. I have watched many of the larger operators start to rekindle their expansion plans and I am pleased to report that we will be involved in quite a number of new facilities over the coming months. That said what have I been up to I hear you ask?
Well here we go:
- Firstly I attended the Storage King conference on the Gold Coast this year and as always they put on a show that definitely delivered to their operators many new ideas that will help them move forward as the financial climate gets better.
- Following this I was away on Family leave as my wife and I had our third child, a very healthy bouncing boy weighing in at 4kg. His name is Sebastian and he is now almost 14 weeks old! Wow time flies fast.
- July and August were months that were spent deploying many new sites, 12 in total if memory serves me correctly and generally helping our customers over their financial year hump.
- For those of you who haven’t yet thought about using MYOB or QuickBooks interface I can say that this export routine saved many of our customers hours by being able to import directly into these programs from StorMan.
Currently, the StorMan team have been very excited about some of the new market opportunities that are occurring and presenting themselves to us. Wayne has been exceedingly busy with the Las Vegas show last week and I am currently in the UK for the annual SSAUK Convention & Tradeshow. On top of all this we have been busy preparing for the upcoming SSAA Convention & Tradeshow at the Marriott on the Gold Coast in October. Having said that we have got some surprises in store for you at the Gold Coast conference and I am looking forward to seeing you all there.
