Well... where do I start?! It's been a crazy few months for myself and the StorMan crew as they heard the daily countdown until I had my head shaved for The Leukaemia Foundation’s "World’s Greatest Shave".
Money raised is used by the Leukaemia Foundation to fund free services to support patients and families living with leukaemia, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders. It also funds blood cancer research to find better treatments and cures. My goal was to raise as much money for The Leukaemia Foundation as I could - and whilst there are still some additional donations trickling in, I am more than happy with the funds raised.

As I lost my cousin to Leukaemia a few years ago, I wanted to do something for the families that were suffering as my family had done. So, on the evening of Friday the 12th of March 2010 at the local Redcliffe RSL, I held an auction with many wonderful products which were generously donated by many local organisations.
These included an ACDC signed autographed guitar which came accompanied with photo’s of the band signing it as well as memorabilia featuring Casey Stoner, U2, Chad Reed, ACDC, Wally Lewis, Lowndes & Wincup, The Broncos, and Kosta Tszyu (sponsored by Classic Memorabilia).

During the evening (between the spruiking of auctioneer Kelly Leeson from Australian Real Estate & Auction Training), special guest Mark Brandon “Chopper” Read told stories of his past and gave us insight to what to expect in his upcoming book, which is due for release in June. The book, titled “Danny Boy” tells the story of Chopper Reads’ former bodyguard, Mark Dixon and promises to be an interesting read to say the least.
Subsequently, Mark Dixon also has a book (aptly named “Hammertime”), due to be published later this year. People love to hear what the underworld is really all about and both men certainly can tell the stories, as well as write all about their lives.

As the time came to dock the locks, "Chopper" (the old barber from H Division of Pentridge Prison) started the clippers. As he started shaving my head I began to worry that he may miss my head and nick my ears... not only that, but I began to worry that I would miss my long hair - which took me 5 years to grow! But then I remembered why I was doing this, which put a smile on my face.
In the end though I was so amazed at how gentle “Chopper” was; it will be one of those experiences that I will never forget. With the deed of losing my locks all done and seeing it all lying on the ground I felt brave & proud... and honoured to be doing my bit for the Leukaemia Foundation.

PS: Thank you to everyone who donated for this great cause, including StorMan Software's donation of $500.
